Tribu's Story
Tribu was founded in 2011 by Sara S. Helmy with $6,000, zero debt, and a simple vision: do great work, stay humble, and grow with the partners who believe in us. No outside funding. No shortcuts. Just organic growth, driven by passion and purpose.
Sara knew early on she wasn’t built to be someone’s “dream employee.” She was deeply entrepreneurial and obsessed with digital marketing—specifically, SEO, which became her first superpower. She believed that combining bold creativity with strong digital execution could transform marketing into something measurable, meaningful, and tribe-building. And so, Tribu was born.
Back then, brands laughed at the idea of hiring someone to manage their social media. Some brands believed that their websites were important, but many thought that a great website would make no difference. Today, no one questions it. We were there when it all started—digital is in our DNA. We’ve never been a traditional agency. We’ve always been a progressive one, evolving with the platforms, using AI before anyone talked about it, growing with our partners, and winning over 100 awards for creativity along the way.
Today, Tribu is 25 Tribe members strong and operates out of a 13,000 sq. ft. warehouse-turned-creative-haven on San Antonio’s Eastside. We’re still debt free. We’re still organically growing. We build tribes for brands—real, thriving communities powered by creativity, strategy, and a human-first approach to marketing.
Most of all, we’re still humble and we speak like a friend to all we are grateful to serve, honoring the truest forms of human-connection that we value so dearly. That’s core to us. We’re always learning, flexible, adaptable to change, resourceful and mighty in our agility - always.

Office Milestones We Love Our first office was a corner of a plastic manufacturing warehouse—generously lent by Sara’s mom. We fit five people in there. We “moved up” next door, still in her building, but with our own rented space. We then bought our first real office: a cozy 2,500 sq. ft. house-turned-studio near the Pearl, where we squeezed 20+ Tribe members, fought for conference rooms, and held some epic yard parties. In 2021, we moved into our dream HQ: a 13,000 sq. ft. reimagined warehouse on San Antonio’s Eastside—our forever creative home.
